Auctioned refrigerated vehicles are adapted to meet the needs of the catering trade. Pharmaceutical industries also use them to transport unstable substances. Whatever the brand or model, their operating principle remains the same: to maintain a stable temperature inside the compartment. To achieve this, they include a dial thermostat whose role is to adjust by decreasing or increasing the heat. Choosing a refrigerated truck means having the assurance of delivering goods all the while preserving the latter’s’ taste and freshness.
Modern refrigerated vehicles are equipped with a powerful microprocessor system for temperature control. Note that our low-cost refrigerated vans comply with standards. Suitable for the transport of perishable products, each type of machine has its own specificities: isothermal, refrigerating, cooling or calorific. For second-hand rolling stock, certifications are issued by the French cold chain expertise centre.
Before you buy a cheap refrigerated truck, it’s good to know that they fall into two categories. On the one hand, vehicles with integrated cells. On the other hand those with reported cells. In the first case, insulating panels directly cover the walls. In the second case, the base vehicle receives the insulating body mounted separately on its chassis. Whether a van, a chassis or a floor model, customers can choose among the biggest brands: Renault (Maxity, Kango,…), Citroen (Jumper, Berlingo…), Mercedes (Vito, Citan…), Opel (Vivavro, Combo…) and many others.
These second-hand refrigerated vehicles are classified according to weight and load volume. As an indication: light commercial vehicles (1.5t to 3.5t, 1.5m3 to 9m3), refrigerated trucks (7t, 8m3 to 17m3), refrigerated heavy goods vehicles (26t, 50m3), refrigerated semi-trailers (38t, 85m3). Depending on the model, the vehicle may have certain features. The shelves can be adjustable and/or liftable. The non-slip floor provides additional safety for transporters of goods such as meat. Participating in the auction allows you to find good deals. Before investing, however, it is important to ensure that the model meets your needs. Among the many criteria, check the following 3 points first: volume and payload, engine power and vehicle ergonomics. For individuals who work as fishmongers, cheese makers or caterers, opt for refrigerated light commercial vehicles or mini-compact models. Wholesalers will prefer large refrigerated trucks.
In terms of engine power, it will be chosen according to the weight of the load and the type of journey. As an indication, a large refrigerated vehicle with a full load must have a minimum power of 120 horsepower. For practical reasons, ergonomics and height are also of paramount importance. It must take into account the volume and shape of the goods to be transported. In addition to these criteria, certain points can be favoured to improve comfort. The presence of a navigation system will easily guide the delivery driver on his/her route. For added comfort, the tailgate makes it easy to mount heavy loads. Do good business with our auctions.
